Membrane bio reactors (MBRs) combine membrane separation technology with standard sewage biology treatment technologies. It enhances biological sewage treatment and recycling technology; it is also known as membrane separation activated sludge treatment. The MBR holds the activated sludge and large molecule organics in the aeration tank, increasing the sludge concentration. Meanwhile, contaminants can be decomposed more effectively in the tank, improving the quality of permeate water. Because of the precision of membrane filtering, the permeate water is pure and transparent, eliminating the need for a secondary sedimentation tank and increasing solid-liquid separation efficiency. The air-water circulation flow in a bioreactor can fully mix the wastewater and increase the dispersion of active sludge by increasing its specific surface area. It is a major cause for the successful removal of contaminants. Hydraulic Retention Time (HRT) is completely independent from Sludge Retention Time (SRT). Bioreactor entirely stores sludge in the reaction tank, allowing for total separation of HRT and SRT, making the system more versatile and stable. Higher sludge concentration, greater volume loading, and fewer land occupations are only a few benefits.

The bioreactor's high sludge holding capacity allows the sludge to reach 8-12g/l, which is 2-3 times higher than standard active sludge treatment. Because of the extended sludge age, the microorganisms in the reaction tank are generally in decline, allowing the reactor to function as a'sludge nitration tank'. It can significantly minimize leftover sludge, lowering the cost of treatment. Nitrobacteria reproduce slowly. Improve the system's denitrification efficiency significantly. Strong load and impact resistance The sludge in the reaction tank adjusts to the quantity of organic contaminants, resulting in increased load impact resistance and stable permeate water.MBR technology reduces area acceleration and tank capacity by one-third, lowering the overall plant aquicence.

The benefits of Membrane Bio Reactor

  1. Low maintenance.
  2. Higher sludge concentration
  3. Larger volume loading and smaller footprint.
  4. No need for secondary sedimentation.
