High-activity granular carbon derived from coconut shells, Clack Catalytic Activated Carbon is made especially to remove hydrogen sulfide and chloramines from drinking water. produced using specific grades of coconut shell coal to create a robust, high-density granular product that can endure the abrasion and dynamics brought on by frequent mechanical handling, hydraulic transport, and backwashing. To create an unusually high interior surface area with the ideal pore size for the adsorption of a variety of low-molecular-weight organic pollutants and oxidizing agents like ozone and chlorine, activation is meticulously regulated. Because of its catalytic activity, CAT-HAC is very successful at reducing hydrogen sulfide and chloramines from potable water.
It is also especially well-suited for the removal of low molecular weight organic chemicals and their chlorinated byproducts, including chloroform and other trihalomethanes (THMs), due to its enormous micropore volume. Catalytic High Activated Carbon (CAT-HAC) can be utilized for a number of water treatment applications, such as the removal of hydrogen sulfide and chloramines from potable water, in order to maximize the effectiveness of the activated carbon in the adsorption process.
Having the maximum surface area in the shortest feasible volume is preferred. This is required since the adsorption rate is directly correlated with the adsorbing media's surface area. The surface area of CAT-HAC is 1,060 square meters per gram. High efficiency and increased system economy are the outcomes of this. For many years, Clack has supplied activated carbon to the OEM and aftermarket market for use in individual treatment equipment to remove certain contaminants as well as as a pre-treatment for other water purification systems.

A dissolved oxygen content of 4 ppm (mg/L) is necessary for CAT-HAC to effectively remove iron and hydrogen sulfide. Periodically backwashing CAT-HAC is necessary to remove accumulated suspended particles and regrade the filter bed. Although CAT-HAC has a very high capacity, it needs to be replaced when the filter bed's ability to reduce hydrogen sulfide and chloramines is diminished. Utilizing pressurized filter vessels or gravity flow, CAT-HAC can be applied in both residential and commercial settings.

Benefits of Catalytic-High Activated Carbon
  1. For applications needing the reduction of dissolved organic compounds, hydrogen sulfide, and chloramine, CAT-HAC is an excellent material derived from coconut shells.
  2. Water with a broad range of pH values can be filtered with this device.
  3. A large surface area leads to very high efficiency and capacity.
  4. A more effective adsorption range is provided by a balanced pore structure.
  5. Because CAT-HAC is so resilient, attrition losses are minimized.
  6. CAT-HAC contains relatively little ash and a lot of carbon.
  7. The filtered water will have a high "polish" thanks to CAT-HAC.
