The Terga Combined Cycle Plant is a 1,200 MW power plant located in Algeria. In December 2007, a consortium of Alstom Power Centrales and Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) was awarded a challenging EPC (Lump Sum Turn Key) contract to build the plant in less than 48 months. The plant consists of three 400 MW modules, each utilizing Alstom's highly efficient KA26 Gas Fired module technology.
OCI's scope included all Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) work for the entire project in a joint venture with Alstom, which supplied the Gas Turbines, Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), and Steam Turbines. The scope also included joint testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning. The project was particularly challenging due to its elevated location above sea level, requiring extensive marine works for the intake and outfall systems. This included the installation of five 2,000 mm diameter reinforced concrete pipelines, each approximately 4 km in length.
The project involved massive quantities of work to be completed in under four years, including:

Earthworks: Rock excavations, cut & fill, piling, and stone columns.
Structural: Over 4,000 tons of steel rebar and steel structure.
Buildings: More than 5,000 m² of ancillary buildings.
Electromechanical: Erection of over 20,000 tons of electromechanical equipment, 3,000 tons of piping, and 2,000 tons of tanks.

OCI is proud to have partnered with Alstom to build Africa's first GT–26 Turnkey Gas-Fired Combined Cycle plant, which now serves new consumers and strengthens the Algerian power grid.
