Working Princple of Dissolved Air Flotation
How it works: In a DAF unit, the air sparger releases millions of tiny air bubbles that cause flocculent particles to cling to and float on the water's surface.
Under pressure, air is dispersed in a pure liquid—typically the effluent from a DAF unit—which is then injected back into the original feed stream. The air pressure is released as it enters the DAF unit, combining with the liquid, which supersaturates and fills with micron-sized air bubbles.
In order to lift the suspended particles to the liquid surface and generate a floating sludge layer, the suspended material adheres to the air bubbles, lowering the specific gravity of the clumps (floc) below that of water. This floating sludge layer is then periodically collected by the skimmer into the sludge tank. To be treated or recycled, the clarified water travels to the effluent control weir at the bottom of the flotation cell.

Application of Dissolved Air Flotation:
Widely utilized in the manufacturing, chemical, light textile, transportation, food, and other industries; particularly suitable for the treatment of oilfield drilling sewage, oilfield reinjection water, and oil refinery sewage.
