With high hydraulic capacity in mind, the Mecana Disk Filter (MSF) was created. One of Mecana's distinctive selling points is its exceptional operational experience in a variety of industrial and municipal applications. The MSF is installed into the central tube and is made up of six segments per disk, or five m² of filter surface per disk. The application specifies 180, 240, or 300 mm as the separation between the disks. With a filter cleaning pump and rotating suction beams with (profiled) suction lips, each of the two or three disks has its own separate cleaning system. One central pump and one valve per cleaning system can also be used to clean the filters. In terms of operating reliability, however, filter systems with one filter cleaning pump for every two or three filter disks have an advantage.
The operation of a disk filter
The Mecana Disk Filter is installed in a filter tank that has a level indicator, an emergency overflow valve, and inlet and output weirs for hydraulic decoupling. From the outside to the inside of the completely submerged filter structure, the water passes through the pile layer while holding onto the solids. Filtrate passes through the outlet weir and over the rising chamber. The zero-water level is defined by the outflow weir and is used as a reference for system control. Rotating the disc allows the filter media to be cleaned without stopping the filtration operation. The whole surface of the filter is cleaned in a single cleaning session. Cleaning is either level-controlled or time-controlled when operating in automatic mode. The entire surface of the filter is cleaned in a single cleaning session. Periodically, suspended solids are extracted from the filter's bottom.
