A cartridge filter is a type of tubular filtration device that can be applied to a variety of filtration needs in a variety of industries. To eliminate undesirable particles, contaminants, and chemicals from liquids, a cartridge is enclosed in a housing or casing. As the cartridge travels through the filter element and through the housing, it comes into contact with water, liquid, or solvent that needs to be filtered. Submicron particles can also be eliminated via cartridge filters.
There are two possible grades for micron size:

"Nominal" and "Absolute." 95% of the particles of that micron size will be eliminated by the filter cartridge with a nominal rating. A filter with an absolute rating will get rid of 99 percent of the particles.
