The Macro 900 Water Quality System is a complete field kit that offers monitoring for a variety of important parameters and is intended for professional water scientists. With features including GPS location detection and barometric pressure monitoring, the Macro 900 meter is easy to use and waterproof. The supplied MacroLink program is downloaded from the data storage, which has 1000 complete sets of results. The monitoring can be done with one of two Macro Accessory Probes (MAPs); the MAP 2000 has sensors/probes for pH, dissolved oxygen (optical technique), conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), resistivity, salinity, and seawater specific gravity (SSG).
The MAP 2100 expands the available parameters to include depth measurement, either standard or differential. The following selection of alternative ion-selective electrodes (ISE) and optical probes can be used to further improve both robust probes: ISE: fluoride (F), calcium (Ca), chloride (Cl), nitrate (NO3), and ammonia/ammonium (NH3/NH4) Turbidity (as determined by the ISO 7027 standard), chlorophyll, blue-green algae (phycocyanin in fresh water, phycoerythrin in marine water), rhodamine WT dye, fluorescein dye, and refined oils (hydrocarbons) are examples of optical probes.
