Ultraviolet sterilizer (UV sterilizer) refers to a device that uses an ultraviolet mercury lamp as a light source and uses 253.7nm ultraviolet rays radiated by mercury vapor in the lamp tube as the main spectral line to sterilize drinking water (abbreviated as sterilizer)
Ultraviolet sterilizers have the characteristics of no dead ends, good light conditions, low energy consumption, flexible and convenient installation and disassembly of equipment, and no secondary pollution. Compared with chlorine sterilization. ultraviolet sterilizers do not need to add chemicals. no secondary pollution, and no secondary pollution. The mixing equipment greatly reduces the operating cost of the equipment.
If it is drinking water, the ultraviolet sterilizer is safe and will not adversely affect the human body due to the excessive amount of medicine Compared with the ozone sterilizer the ultraviolet sterilizer has the advantages of low energy consumption, no large mixer, no fishy smell, etc., which not only has a good look and feel but also reduces operating costs.
How does a UV sterilizer work?
The working principle of UV sterilizer is to use ultraviolet light to sterilize and sterilize. Ultraviolet light is an invisible light wave that exists outside the violet end of the spectrum, so it is called ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet light is one of the electromagnetic waves that come from solar radiation and is generally divided into the following four categories by wavelength. It is a special form of matter functioning, a flow of unconnected particles. When the ultraviolet rays are irradiated on the microorganisms, energy transfer and accumulation will occur, and the accumulation will lead to the inactivation of the microorganisms, so as to achieve the purpose of disinfection. When bacteria and viruses absorb a dose of more than 3600~65000uW/c㎡, they have strong destructive power to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) of bacteria and viruses, which will make bacteria and viruses lose their viability and reproduction. force. , and then destroy it to achieve the effect of disinfection and sterilization. On the one hand, UVC can mutate nucleic acids, preventing its replication, transcriptional block, and protein synthesis; on the other hand, the production of free radicals can cause photoionization, which leads to cell death.
The sterilization efficiency of UV sterilizer
Ultraviolet sterilizer has other technologies with unparalleled sterilization efficiency. The sterilization efficiency can reach 99%-99.9%. And the sterilization time is very short, the bacteria can only be inactivated within 1 second. Traditional chemical disinfection methods such as chlorine and ozone generally take 20 minutes to 1 hour to achieve the sterilization effect of UVC.
Types of UV Sterilizers
  1. Pipeline UV Sterilizer
  2. Medium pressure UV sterilizer
  3. Open Channel UV Sterilizer
How to install the UV sterilizer?
1. The UV sterilizer is suitable for indoor safety equipment, and outdoor safety equipment must be equipped with rain-proof and dust-proof facilities.
2. The built-in quartz shell and UV lamp tube of the UV sterilizer are fragile items, and should be handled with care during transportation, installed and used safely, avoiding collisions and violent vibrations.
3. The UV sterilizer should be installed horizontally and safely, not vertically, the barrel should not be subject to external pressure, and the quartz sleeve should not be contacted at the inlet and outlet.
4. The ultraviolet sterilizer should be safely installed at the outlet of the water tank or pool. If the water pressure is high, it should be safely installed in the low-pressure area before the pump inlet or with a pressure reducing valve.
5. The UV sterilizer is safely installed at both ends of the equipment, leaving a space of ≥1m and 0.5m (1.6m and 0.5m for high-power models) to facilitate the replacement of lamps and electric control maintenance boxes. There is no less than 0.5m of space.
6. The two ends of the water inlet and outlet of the UV sterilizer can choose one as the water inlet and the other as the water outlet, and the customer can follow up with their own convenience.
7. The ultraviolet sterilizer should be equipped with bypass pipeline and stop valve during safe installation to facilitate maintenance.
8. Before the water operation and debugging, the construction residual debris in the pipeline should be rinsed clean by bypass, and the inlet and outlet valves of the ultraviolet sterilizer should be opened after the water quality is clean.
9. After the UV sterilizer is safely installed, test the water first, and check for water leakage before turning on the power. Wait until all the lamps work normally for 3-5 minutes (the lamp indicator shows that the lamps are normal), and then boil the water. Open the water valve first, then open the water valve, and the equipment starts to work.

Application of UV Sterilizer:
  1. Water disinfection for seawater and freshwater breeding (fish, eel, shrimp, shellfish, etc.).
  2. Water disinfection in the food processing industry, including water equipment for juice, milk, beverages, beer, edible oil, and various cans and cold drink products.
  3. Water disinfection in hospitals and various laboratories and disinfection of wastewater with high content of pathogens.
  4. Disinfection of domestic water, including residential quarters, office buildings, water plants, hotels, restaurants, etc.
  5. Cooling water disinfection for biochemical pharmacy and cosmetics production.
  6. Water disinfection for swimming pools, water entertainment facilities, seawater, freshwater nurseries, aquariums, etc.

Advantages of using a UV sterilizer:
1. Ultraviolet sterilizer High-efficiency sterilization: UVC can sterilize bacteria and viruses. Generally, a sterilization rate of 99%-99.9% can be achieved in one to two seconds.
2. Ultraviolet sterilizer has high-efficiency broad-spectrum sterilization: UVC has the highest broad-spectrum sterilization, which can kill almost all bacteria and viruses with high efficiency.
3. The ultraviolet sterilizer has no secondary pollution: ultraviolet sterilization does not add any chemical substances, so it will not cause secondary pollution to the water body and the surrounding environment. Do not alter any composition of the water.
4. UV sterilizer is safe and reliable: traditional disinfection techniques such as chlorine or ozone, the disinfectant itself is a highly toxic and flammable substance. The UV disinfection system does not have such a safety hazard.
5. Ultraviolet sterilizer and low operation and maintenance costs: Ultraviolet sterilization equipment occupies a small area and has simple construction requirements, so the total investment is less. The operating cost is also low. At the thousand-ton water treatment level, the cost is only 1/2 of that of chlorine disinfection.
