Alumina, titanium oxide, zirconia, and other inorganic minerals are sinterable at high temperatures to create the porous structure of an inorganic ceramic membrane, a precision ceramic filter material.

It has an asymmetric distribution and is composed of three layers: a microporous membrane layer, a transition layer, and a porous support layer.  Microfiltration, ultrafiltration, and nanofiltration are all included in the filtration accuracy. The technique of "cross flow filtration" is frequently employed by tubular ceramic membranes to accomplish fluid process separation. In other words, the raw material liquid moves quickly through the membrane tube, and when pressure is applied, the permeate, which contains tiny molecules, spreads outward along the membrane layer's vertical axis. The membrane accomplishes this by intercepting the concentrated solution that contains macromolecular components.
