ZHOU SHEN A disc centrifuge is a centrifugal separator that is used to separate precipitated proteins, microbiological broths, hormones, and other biopharma applications. This separation system embodies over 100 years of technical know-how and development and delivers centrifugal machine performance in pilot or medium scale setups. This solid-liquid separator is built to last and can be used as a clarifier, purifier, and concentrator.

The Operating Principle
How does Disc Separator function?
The disc separator has a vertical design. The drum is situated at the top of the vertical axis, which is powered by a motor and rotates at high speed. In the drum, a series of disc-shaped pieces are piled together with a little gap between them. When the suspension (or emulsion) is pumped into the drum via the feeding tube located in the center of the drum, solid particles (or droplets) settle down to form sediment (or liquid layer) on the disc by centrifuge force, and the sediment slid along the surface of the disc and separated from the disc to accumulate in the largest diameter of the drum. Finally, the separated liquid was evacuated from the exit.
The disc is used to shorten the settling distance of solid particles or droplets, increase the settlement area of the drum, and increase the separator's output capacity. The solids accumulated in the drum are manually removed from the drum once the machine stops, or out of the drum in the case of a dregs machine that does not stop.

A powerful motor provides power via thermal coupling to drive a high-speed spinning drum around the main axis. And the liquid material is transported into the bottom of the drum by a feeding pipe placed in the upper center, then directed into the porthole below the disc and driven to the drum wall.Solid-liquid-liquid separation requires the following motion under centrifugal force:The heavy liquid tends to the drum wall along the cone inside the disc, and then flows upward through the heavy liquid concentric pump to be discharged from the outlet.

To improve slag concentration, a recovery device with this disc separator is attached to the discharged sediment for reuse. The slag's solid concentration can be enhanced by 520 times that of the feeding materials.
The separator has a processing capability of up to 30t/h and is appropriate for suspensions containing solid phrases with diameters of 0.1100 microns and concentrations less than 10% (maximum of 25%).
